With the rapid development of automotive industry and electronic technology, automobiles become more and more intelligent and obviously the automotive electronic will be much more complex too. The world's major automobile OEM and tier one suppliers set up the AUTOSAR Alliance to manager the growing electrics/electronics complexity and improve the performance, safety and environment friendliness. The AUTOSAR Alliance proposed an open and standardized automotive software architecture named AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture). AUTOSAR software architecture can be divided into three layers which are application layer, runtime environment layer and basic software layer. The basic software layer is consisted of several services, such as I/O, memory services, communication services and system services. This paper mainly focuses on the design and implementation of I/O drivers, and we will descript the procedure of design and implementation of ICU module driver and PWM module driver as examples.Enhanced Time Processing Unit (eTPU) is an intelligent, semi-autonomous coprocessor designed for timing control, and has been integrated to many of Freescale's controllers. The highlights of eTPU are:●Operates in parallel with the host CPU, independent from the host core.●Detects and precisely records timing of input events.●Generates complex output waveforms.●Controlled by the core without requiring real-time host processing. This paper deeply analyzes the AUTOSAR specifications as well as the enhanced time processing unit, and based on the analysis we propose the design of file structure, data structure, configuration container and software interfaces for ICU module and PWM module. And ultimately we implement these two modules on Freescale MPC5634M platform.
