Human society is composed of multiple groups. College students play as a cultural group in the society. It is also a special group, which is the focus of the public and media attention. China higher education of full-time college students are generally 18 to 25 years young group. They have young people's general characteristics. Such as, they are in the gradually mature development of physical and mental functions, they have the stronger self-awareness and the strong sense of companions demand, their emotion is susceptible to the external influence easier to produce the confused, etc. But as a special youth group, college students have their features, such as they mostly have systematic higher education, with professional skills and knowledge. Meanwhile, their thought active, they are easier to accept the fresh things, most of them care about the society and the country.China began to greatly expand the scale of higher education from the year 1999. The number of universities and college students grows sharply. According to concerning sectional statistic, by the end of 2009, our country has a number of over 1900 universities, almost double of the year 2000. And by the end of 2009, the number of college students in China has more than 20 million, six times what it was ten years ago. With the increased enrollment, more and more young people can have access to continue to learn and to study in the ivory tower. Along with the ever-increasing number of college students, disputes about them, such as their education, unemployment, love-related problems are commonly seen in newspapers. College students' image in media reports also has changed from an unusually lucky person In the ivory tower to the ordinary laborers with professional knowledge. Evenly, there are some authors put forward that college students'image is being demonised by the media. To some degree, media-image-building of college students also impacts on the public's attitude and evaluation towards college students.So, what is the image of the college students presented by the media? Isn't as some scholars say that the image of college students has been demonized by the media? Is there any change in the media reports about college students? This paper will take China Youth Daily as an example to analysis the above issues. Based on the news frame theory, this paper analyses the focus of reports about colleage students in China Youth Daily during the year 2000 to 2009 and then make a sumption of the focuses and the leadership function of these reports on public opinion. Then, the paper will make a further study of how the mainstream meidias shape the image of the college students and what kind of change has taken place. Meanwhile, the gain and loss of the mainstream medias will be mentioned and research on what the meida should stick to defense and their social responsibilities in reports about college students has also been done.After the author studies, It has been found that,the national newspaper China Youth Daily, named by "youth" and youth as the main readers, has always focused on youth's growth and college students' issues as one of the major content of the reports.As the official newspaper of The Central Committee of the Communist Young LeagueChina Youth Daily has strong theoretical guidance and public opinion leading in the reports on college students,and pay more more attentionon college students' learning, thoughts and employment,etc. China Youth Daily does not exist distorted reports of college students, the more no image as some scholars think "demonised" college students' image.After the author's further study, found that college students image in the media experienced from negative to positive transformation process. For the study in 2000 to 2009 found that in 2007 turning point, the image of college students in media experienced the process from the morality to moral reconstruction.Of course, the media can not completely and comprehensively appeared the image of college students. The miedia still have some limitations in the view point of the reports, and cannot objectively and comprehensively reflect the overall condition of contemporary college students. Therefore, the author suggest, the media should be more close to the college students' life, close relationship with college students, so as to achieve a more comprehensive, objective and accurate reports of college issues,and presented to the audience of a more realistic image of college students.
