Data Mining Techniques In The Evaluation Of University Teaching

With the wide application of database and network, traditional methods of database analysis can not meet people's needs. In order to deal with the shortcoming of it, data mining is used to distract the potential and unknown useful information from lots of incomplete, noisy, indistinct, random data.The author introduces the concepts of data mining, discusses the technology and algorithm of data mining. The focus is the algorithm and the application in teaching evaluation system. By mining the evaluation data and some of teachers'file data of Shanxi Youth Leaders College, by means of connection rules, tries to find the main factors that influence teaching quality, and analyze the results to test the validity.The inference technology of connection rules are used to prove the present higher education teaching evaluation system, after that, the data are further analyzed in order to not only line up all the teachers but also get more various information from data mining, which include the popular evaluation of teachers from students, the advantages and disadvantages of each teacher, students'different reflection to different teachers, the predominant function of students'subjective factors, predictive knowledge from present and history data, the popularity of course to students according to the past evaluation. If the reflections from students are not good, it is necessary to set certain penalty measurements. Besides those mentioned above, there is also other information related to data mining, such as, teachers'teaching achievements fluctuation, reference function of curriculum setting, including which courses students are interested and which they are not interested, and what should be added and omitted. It can offer decision making information to have teaching management better. In that way the teaching quality can be proved efficiently.
