The Mode-S secondary surveillance Radars output more detailed target information to Air Traffic Control Automation Systems. The Mode-S Radar Data Processing System could analyze raw radar data and provides on-site technicians with exact true radar data.In this thesis, the mode-S radar data has been analyzed, the hardware and software issues of the Mode-S Radar Data Processing System are explored. the main results are as following:1. The Mode-S radar data format which is conformed to ASTERIX CAT30 and CAT48 specification is investigated in detail.2. The software method of Mode-S radar data receiving module is implemented, radar data transmitted by communication protocol transferring device could be accessed from multicast UDP packages on LAN.3. The software method of Mode-S radar decoding module is investigated in detail, a C++ function are implemented to decode radar data and update radar tracks and plots.4. The software method of radar tracks displaying module are implemented, using Visual C++ CDC functions to draw radar tracks and plots, and related maps are also displayed on the background.5. The software method of data accessing module are discussed, several dialog window are designed to access processed data.6. The software method of system trace recording module is discussed, raw Mode-s data and processing message are wrote down on disk files in C++ functions.Every related processing module including data receiving, decoding, displaying and recording is implemented in this thesis. This application provides a convenient way to analyze and fix some software problems related to Mode-S radar in the ATC system.
