As a necessary mean of improving comprehensive qualities and cultivating practical ability and innovation ability of students, experimental teaching is playing a more and more important role in higher education. The traditional experimental teaching model and laboratory management cannot meet the demand any more. With the development of , database technology and the , many universities at home and abroad are using modern to manage laboratories to improve the work efficiency and . But the main functions of most laboratory management system are data storage and information inquiry. Developing networked laboratory management system which can provide omni-directional laboratory management, combining the experimental teaching management with the laboratory management and providing experiment teaching management of opening mode is significance to standardize the information of the experimental teaching management, optimize the allocation of resources and improve the quality of experimental teaching.Based on the experiment management system of southwest engineering school, the thesis described the design and implementation process of the laboratory management system of southwest engineering school. The process included requirement analysis, outline design, detailed design and system test of software life cycle. In order to reduce the burden of the test house manager, improve the efficiency of experimental teaching and create an excellent experiment environment for the students, the managements of southwest engineering school decided to establish information management system. The author first in-depth investigated the requirement, analyzed the actuality and the existing problems in current laboratory management of the school, and puts forward specific solutions. By the unified modeling language (UML), the paper established the model architecture using object-oriented analysis and design method. Based on B/S mode of browsers, the paper chose the.NET framework and adopted multi-layer architecture system for specific design and implementation. The powerful and stable performance Microsoft SQL Server 2000 was chosen for the backend database and the development tools was Visual Studio .Net 2003. The function modules included laboratory information management, experimental teaching management, opening laboratory management, equipment management, low-value and consumable articles management and system maintenance etc. Web portal of the laboratory was established for the teachers and students to browse announcement, News & Trends, and download experimental data.The project was successfully developed. It covered the whole experimental teaching and management process of southwest engineering school. The information-based management among the test house manager, the teachers and the students was realized. The project set up a networked platform for laboratory management and experimental teaching. The allocation of resources was optimized and the working efficiency was greatly improved. As a result, the study met the expected effect.
