Classifier with tilting plates is a class of waterpower classification equipment of development through importing and researching the foreign products. It has many strongpoints such as structure simpleness, convenience to use, low consumed cost, small using area, large processing capacity and high classification efficiency and etc. In recent years, it was used increasingly in mineral processing, iron and steel, light industry, environmental protection, paper making, chemistry industry and other industries and fields. In the application of the classifier with tilting plates in ilmenite Concentrator of Panzhihua Iron&Steel Group Company, ore pulp is classified and thickened by the equipment once, and then the equipment output products which meet the requirements of ilmenite concentration. The technology solved many production technology problems such as low efficiency, low abilities and rapid screen nets abrasion of the quondam classification and thickening equipments in the original technics which are desliming first, and then classification. Although the classifier with tilting plates work efficiently in the idea circumstance, it is difficult to enable technical parameters such as classification and concentration efficiency to be the best because of flux changing, thickness and granularity changing of feeding ore pulp, and it is difficult to operate physical parameters accurately and timely such as flux and thickness by manual. So, it is significant to develop the automatic control system of the equipment in order to improve the quality of the equipment and the rate of utilization of resources.This article researched the automatic control system of the classifier with tilting plates based on summing up the automatic control technology of thickness and flux in concentration factories abroad and at home in the view of the application in Ilmenite Concentrator of Panzhihua Iron&Steel Group Company, which demands to classify ore pulp by 63μm. The automatic control system is developed through the combination of the actual using circumstance of the classifier with tilting plates and utilizing developed PLC and sensor technology. This article focused on the realization of the automatic control system of the classifier with tilting plates based on the analysis of the work principle of the classifier with tilting plates in the view of the application in Ilmenite Concentrator of Panzhihua Iron&Steel Group Company, which demands to classify ore pulp by 63μm.The control system is composed of the hardware, the Ladder Diagram of PLC and the configuration software. The hardware is composed of the controller, the HHD intelligent electromagnetic flux meter, the micro-difference of pressure thickness sensor, and ZSX-D intelligent electric adjusting valve. The controller is composed of the Mitsubishi FX2N-32MT PLC, the FX2N-4AD which is a 4-channel analog input module, the FX2N-4DA which is a 4-channel analog output module and the FX2N-485-BD which is a serial communication interface module. We have already experimented on the home-made equipment, and met the requirements of design.
