Job burnout influences not only teachers'mental and physical health, but also leads to changes about the attitude and teaching methods to the objects, and so on. As a result, it has been an issue of research recently. We researched some primary school teachers in Xi-an with questionnaire to study the influence of coping styles on job stress and job burnout.The results were as follows.Firstly, the degrees of job stress and job burnout about primary school teachers in Xi-an were not serious on the whole, while a certain percentage of teachers'working pressure is too large and the sense of job burnout is too strong. The most important ways of teachers'coping styles were problem solving and recourse, this means that active and mature coping styles are mainly used.Secondly, different demographic variables had different effects on different dimensions of job stress, coping styles and job burnout.Thirdly, there was significant correlation between job stress and job burnout:positive correlation between different dimensions of job stress and job burnout (Emotional exhaustion and Depersonalization and Cognitive exhaustion), and job stress could significantly predict job burnout; negative correlation between job stress and job burnout (Personal accomplishment), while the forecast is not significant.Fourthly, there was significant correlation between different dimensions of coping styles and job burnout (Emotional exhaustion and Depersonalization and Cognitive exhaustion):negative correlation between Problem-solving coping styles and job burnout (Emotional exhaustion and Depersonalization and Cognitive exhaustion); while positive correlation between emotion-focused coping styles and job burnout (Emotional exhaustion and Depersonalization and Cognitive exhaustion). ERA could significantly predict Cognitive exhaustion, fantasy could significantly predict Depersonalization, Problem-solving could significantly predict Personal accomplishment.Fifth, positive correlation between emotion-focused coping styles and job stress(ERA, Fantasy, Escape, rationalization); negative correlation between problem solving and job stress(School Management, Job Characteristics, Career Development, Physical characteristics); recourse only has significant negative correlation with job stress(Family dimension). emotion-focused coping styles could significantly predict different dimensions of job stress.Sixth, coping styles also worked as mediator between job stress and job burnout: through emotion-focused coping styles job stress made indirectly contribution on burnout (Emotional exhaustion and Depersonalization and Cognitive exhaustion). |
