The job burnout of university teachers was related not only to both their health and job performance, but to whole higher education. The purpose of research was to investigate the situation and the differences in demographical variables of job stress, coping styles and job burnout about university teachers in Changsha, to analyze the relationships between job stress, coping styles and job burnout, to explore the moderating effect and mediating effect of coping styles on relationship between job stress and job burnout. For these purpose, the relevant date were collected by open questionnaires, researches into some relevant references, some standard research methods, such as factor analysis, regression analysis, correlation analysis and ANOVA were employed. In the end of the article, some suggestions were put forward to decrease or prevent the further burnout of university teachers and to improve the job performance of the section related with teachers for the university's administration and teachers themselves based on the study.The conclusions drawn by this research were as follows:First, the degrees of job stress and job burnout about university teachers in Changsha were not serious on the whole. The most important ways of teachers' coping styles were problem solving and recourse. Different demographic variables had different effects on different dimensions of job stress, coping styles and job burnout.Second, there was significantly positive correlation between job stress of all and burnout (Emotional Exhaustion and Cynicism). The stress in work-pleasure, work-burden and work-guarantee could significantly predict Emotional Exhaustion, and the five dimensions of job stress all could notably predict Cynicism.Third, the result showed that there was significantly correlation between coping styles and job burnout: negative correlation between Problem-solving coping style and burnout (Cynicism and Reduced Personal Accomplishment), and positive correlation between emotion- focused coping styles and burnout (Emotional Exhaustion, Cynicism and Reduced Personal Accomplishment). Problem-solving did good to relieve the degree of Cynicism and Reduced Personal Accomplishment.Fourth, the result showed that coping styles worked as moderator between job stress and job burnout: Remorse had positive moderating effects on the relationship between work-pleasure and Emotional Exhaustion, while Problem-solving had negative moderating effects on the relationship between work-pleasure and Cynicism.Fifth, coping styles also worked as mediator between job stress and job burnout: through emotion-focused coping styles job stress made indirectly contribution on burnout (Emotional Exhaustion and Cynicism) significantly.
