On-line course is the important carrier of the web-based education activities, whose quality influences result of study and success or failure of on-line edueation. Educators have paid attention to on-line course since it birthed. In recent several years, many of our scholars and experts have spent a lot of efforts on devoting to on-line course design and improvement, and many universities have vigorously constructed on-line course. As a result, quality and level of on-line course have been greatly improved. However, many problems present in the process of on-line course design, development and implementation. For example, it still exists the great gap between design and implementation of on-line course. Usually the design is perfect, which involves every aspect of on-line course, but intensity of analysis on teaching aim, type of course, teaching activity organization, and teaching design pattern are insufficient, which cannot manifest the characteristic and the superiority of on-line course. On-line course design is patterned, and it trivializes or ignores differences among courses. Analysis of course characteristic is not enough, on-line teaching ways and learners characteristics are incompatible with on-line course content. Because of neglecting analyzing characteristic of on-line course, individuality of on-line course structure is designed.On-line course design is a key factor during on-line course development. An excellent on-line course design is guarantee to the following development and prerequisite of improving on-line teaching quality. structure of on-line course is the primary content of on-line course, which is the most important factor in the course design. In the view of on-line course structure design, this paper discusses the type of on-line course, elaborates the relevant theories of on-line course, focuses on explaining the different type of on-line course, and explores the different type of on-line course structure elements. Finally analyzing the characteristics and differences of on-line course, forming different type of on-line course structure design pattern. At the same time, several types of on-line teaching activities are designed specifically, with a view to improving on-line teaching.The paper is divided six major parts including the foreword and the conclusion:The foreword mainly involves the reasons, the present situation of the domestic and foreign research, research methods and innovative point of research.The second part elaborates relevent on-line course knowledge and design theories of on-line course structure, in order to lay the theories for on-line course structure design.On the basis of the second part relevant knowledge, the third part elaborates the type of on-line course. On-line course is divided into three types from the teaching angle:teaching-based on-line course; self-inquiry-based on-line course; collaborative-based on-line course. According to teaching need, self-inquiry-based on-line course can also be classified, which will make concrete instruction to on-line learning.The fourth part analyzes different types of on-line course, forms the common essential factor saying of on-line course structure, and specifically elaborates elements of on-line course structure.In view of characteristics and differences of on-line course, the fifth part constructs design pattern of on-line course structure, and specifically designs several types of on-line course teaching activity.The conclusion part summarizes what this paper has done, the research conclusions, the questions during the studying, and the direction and goals of the future research.
