After entering the 21st century, the elementary education is fully developed, whose main feature is its reform. A new round of course reform is being carried out. New ideas and atmosphere come into being. But lots of factors show that the traditional teaching mode of the Chinese language, which is teacher-centered, class-centered and textbook-centered, still exist. It results in the waste of time and other educational resources. Therefore, it is necessary to make changes in the traditional teaching mode.Looking back the 20 years` reform, we can see that our government has shown strong determination and has taken a lot of steps. However the effect is not satisfying. . Why? How can we put quality-centered education into effect? The paper focus on telling us the characters of the traditional teaching mode, its abuses and the causes and trying to explore a kind of countermeasure, that is, the self-centered cooperative and extensive teaching mode of the Chinese language. Based on the constructive teaching approach and the cooperative teaching theory, this teaching mode is a worthy attempt and practice. This paper contains the introduction of the features , nature, and advantages of the teaching mode and shows its positive effects on students, which will definitely meet the needs of our society.Rather than wait and complain, I would try to do something meaningful by creating and practicing this teaching mode. Hopefully, this mode can contribute to the changes of traditional teaching beliefs, the decrease of the burdens of students and the full development of students.
