Teacher burnout in China has been regarded as a difficult problem which has brought many negative influences for the school and even the development of entire education. In recent years, psychology, sociology, management science have carried out extensive research into this problem. Based on that, the paper attempts to analyze the origin of teacher burnout which has been regarded as one of the most remarkable phenomenon in elementary school and junior middle school according to X- efficiency theory from the angle of economic.First, while summarizing the present situation of teacher burnout research and the foundation of X-efficiency theory applying, it illuminates that use X-efficiency theory to explaining the origin of teacher burnout is feasible and necessary. Scarcity of Education resources and productiveness of school organization make the research on X-inefficiency existing in school to be feasible in theory; otherwise, the massive X-inefficiency phenomenon in elementary school and junior middle school, especially the universality of teacher burnout which has been regarded as the remarkable phenomenon of X-inefficiency makes the research to be real necessary.Second, the paper analyzes teacher burnout origin of the elementary school and junior middle school from the aspect of human nature feature. The personality human nature and communality human nature are two important factors causing teacher burnout. In one hand, the existence of choice rationality and inertia character means an individual can not always be able to maximize his behavior and usually act in the inert area; in the other hand, individual's behavior has the feature of communality inefficiency for the inert area formatted by many people and the dilemma among the convicts in the community.Third, the paper analyzes the origin of teacher burnout in the elementary school and junior middle school from the aspect of organizational institution. According to the research logic of X-efficiency theory, property right is the synonymous of the institution. So the school property right and the labor property right are the research focus. Including lack of smooth relationship of agency, incompletion of the school property right, unclear definition of the labor property right and inappropriateness of the labor property right disposition, all of that institutional incompletion causes teacher burnout fundamentally.At last, we can conclude that human nature feature is the internal factor, organizational institution is the external factor and their combined action causes teacher burnout. Some countermeasures against teacher burnout based on the research are proposed in the end of the paper.
