The teaching of reading for middle school students is always focused on. It is not only the main content of Chinese teaching, but also a way to develop students'reading ability and carry out their moral education and humanistic quality training. In practice, however, the effect is not so satisfactory because of wasting time and labor. Thus, it is necessary for educators of Chinese to do research into how to improve the basic methods and the efficiency of teaching reading. The conservative and rigid models of teaching ideas seriously limited students'thoughts and creative qualities, of which the situation should be improved.This essay mainly involves the discussion on how to improve and build up new models for the teaching of reading. Meanwhile, it researches into the criterion system under the New Curriculum Standard and tries to discuss how to improve the efficiency in teaching. In a word, these aspects are meaningful to the practice of Chinese teaching in pushing forward the New Curriculum Reform.Besides, the essay refers to some afterthoughts from the improvement of the basic methods and tries to find out relative strategies, which has realistic significance.As a teacher of Chinese, we shoulder the burden of the Reform. What's more, we should always reflect our teaching practice, improve the basic teaching methods and apply new teaching models flexibly. Above all, we should try our best to refresh the teaching of Chinese reading and make students learn to acquire.
