The education and teaching of "Two Courses" is an important means of improving the education of university students' mind or morals. Therefore, how to use the existing teaching resources and all kinds of instructional methods, to improve the effectiveness of "Two Courses" instruction, is one of the very important subjects. In recent years, with the development of network, online courses have been taken use in more and more schools and by more and more teachers, not to mention in "Two Courses" instruction. However, there are a lot of problems in recent online "Two Courses". Through the research of existing problems in online "Two Course" instruction, and based on activity theory, this thesis focuses on how to increase students' interests in online "Two Courses", so as to design interrelated instructional research activities, and improve the effectiveness of online "Two Courses" instruction.The first part of this thesis is introduction, in which the writer describes the importance of the education of university students' mind or morals, which is the research significances of this thesis, through the analysis of some materials such as central documents. Besides, the writer analyzes the existing situation of online "Two Courses" instruction, so as to point out the existing problems.The second part of this thesis is the explanation of the theories used in this thesis, including the activity theory and the theory of the effectiveness of instruction. First the writer concludes the basic concept and main contents of activity theory, according to the analysis of existing materials, and gives some suggestions on the use of activity theory in instruction especially in online "Two Courses" instruction. In this part, the writer analyzes the basic framework of activity theory by Engstrom, and connects it with online instruction, so as to provide the theory foundation of this thesis. Then the writer concludes the basic concept of the theory on the effectiveness of instruction, by reading interrelated materials. Furthermore, the writer makes a discussion on the effects of educational technology and web in improving the effectiveness of instruction.The third part of this thesis is the analysis of the web using situation of university students nowadays. And. through the questionnaire done by the university students, the writer concludes the existing problems. In the forth part of this thesis, the writer gives out the proposal of self-designed research activity for online "Two Courses" instruction, especially introduces the five phases of the research activity, including the points for attention and specific contents. And then the writer introduces the self-designed website for online "Two Course" instruction, as well as explains every part of the website. Finally, the writer compares the instructional situation of "Two Courses" before and after the use of the research activity, in order to further prove the effectiveness of the research activity.The last part of this thesis is conclusion, in which the writer concludes the improvements that research activity makes to the existing situation of nowadays online "Two Courses" instruction and the websites for online "Two Courses" instruction. Besides, the writer also points out the limitation of this thesis and the direction of further research.
