In the 21st century, pursuing innovation has become a pervasive sense. In our country, the word'innovation'has been used so frequently because Jiang Zemin has said that innovation is the spirits of a nation for progress, the endless power of prosperity, and that education is the main base for knowledge innovation, diffusing and application, the cradle for cultivating creative talents. The fact that knowledge-based economy is in need of creative talents makes promoting innovation education become an important and urgent task in the course of education reform in our country. However, innovation education is challenging and complicated because it includes many aspects, such as education concept, education system, teaching content, teaching model, etc.In our country, the theoretical research of innovation education has been developing fast since the 1980s. But in terms of the practice, there are few schools that dare innovate freely or implement innovation education. In the author's opinion, we should not implement innovation education superficially and it should be implemented for all students, combined with classroom instruction for the purpose of promoting comprehensive and harmonious development of students, thus helping to form their innovative qualities.Based on innovation education, the present study uses the theory of Study, Human's Comprehensive Development and Lifelong Education theories as its theoretical basis, and combines with the characteristics of fundamental computer course to discuss how to cultivate students'innovative sense, spirits and abilities in fundamental computer course.This thesis introduces the theory of innovation education and development of computer education, demonstrates the necessity of implementing innovation education in fundamental computer course, and makes a survey of the teaching situation and the present implementation of innovation education, which lays a practical foundation for the present study. The thesis focuses on probing into the approaches to implementing innovation education, and proposes the innovative teaching model of fundamental computer course, including the teaching aims, strategies, process and evaluations. In the end, this paper makes a demonstration research by applying such teaching model to teaching practice, and finally makes quantitative and qualitative analysis of the instructional effects to confirm the feasibility of implementing the innovation teaching model.This research is hoped make some efforts to innovation education in the fundamental computer course, to improve teaching and learning effects, and finally accomplish the goal of cultivating innovative talents.
