Confucianism is rich in the wisdom of education, and Confucians attaches importance to the tradition of the "university" education. Confucian wisdom is still of great value to the development and improvement of modem university educationIn the first part, this thesis briefly explores the concept of Confucianism's ''university". Humanistic Education is the fundamental spirit of Confucian education, advocating "into the humanities to the world". The thought of ''university'' education is a kind of humanistic education or Moral Education, the core of which was "life" education. In this part, I briefly discussed the ideal Confucian personality and educational training.In the second part, the Confucian thinking of "university" education that the modem thinkers and educators had inherited and developed is analysed from three aspects. Firstly, the modem neo-Confucianism carries forward the spirit of the traditional Confucian lecture; Secondly, the leaders of modern university inherit and devebp the traditional Confucianism's educational spirits creatively in the process of constructing modem university; Thirdly, Confucians' tradition of Teacher leads students to truth" continued in the modem university.The third part sets forth the modem significance of the Confucian "university" concept from two perspectives. Firstly, it elaborates the significance of the Confucianism ideal personality education to cultivate the outstanding citizen; the thought of Confucian education has the important value to foster the modem outstanding citizen, to foster humanities spirit and the artistic spirit of the university students; Afterwards ,the paper briefly compares the Confucianism essential meaning of the teamed person education and the essence of the West general education, and expects that the modem university education can penetrate China and the West and develop the general education that had culture disposition of our country.Finally, thesis prints out that our university education should be developed by tracing its history.
