Entering the 21st century, with the rapid development of science and technology, with the arrival of information times, society puts forward more requirement to higher education especially the education of sciences. To higher education, teaching is the most fundmental and important work. In order to cultivate advanced researchers who adapt to the society, university must take teaching into account. Of late years, with lots of educator's efforts, the research and practice of higher teaching make much progress. But most universities still use the traditional teaching mode, and there are many drawbacks in teaching contents teaching methods teaching means and evaluation mode. These go against the cultivation of researching talents with innovation spirit and practice ability. The higher education of sciences must be reformed effectively.Based on investigation, this thesis explores the theory of the research-based teaching, and investigates the circumstance of carrying out research-based teaching in higher education home and abroad. The thesis analyses the advantage of carrying out research-based teaching in university physics curriculum, then devises the teaching in and out of class. We organized some practice activities of research-based teaching in mechanics part of the university physics curriculum, grade 2004 of intensive instruction class in Nanjing Normal University. We wish to explore instructive techniques and effective methods of carrying out research-based teaching in university curriculum, and offer reference to teaching reform of higher education.
