Influenced by American feminism curriculum theory, the author found that gender bias and gender stereotypes existed in textbooks of many countries .At present, the New Elementary Curriculum Reform is going on in China. Have the gender problems in textbooks been noticed in the new reform? It is what the author care about and the start point of this research. For finding out this, the dissertation analyzed gender problems by comparing the textbooks edited during the curriculum reform with the textbooks edited before it, by using quantitative research, text analysis and comparison method in analyzing three editions edited by People's Education Press. Then according to the output of analyzing, some practical suggestions are put forward to eliminate the gender problems.The dissertation consists of four parts.Preface: This part mainly introduces the background and traces back to gender researches in textbooks, then put forward the merits of this research.Part One: Core Conception, basic theory , research methods and latitudes. This part explains two core conceptions, such as gender role, gender stereotype; and expounds the heavy influence of education, curriculum and textbook on the socialization of people's gender roles. Then briefly introduces the research aims, objects, methods and latitudes.Part Two: The comparison of gender problems in textbooks edited during the reform and before it. This part compares the gender problems in two aspects: pictures and texts. Gender problems in pictures includes the amount of male and female, the absence of female in pictures, the situation of female. Gender problems in texts includes the amount of male and female, the occupation role of male and female, the family role of female, the role of male and female students, the animals' gender personification. It's the most important part and the primary outcome of this dissertation.Part three: The analysis of gender problems in textbooks. In this part, the author analyzes the reason and influences of gender problems according to the comparison results that the gender problems still exist in textbooks edited during the reform. The aim is to solve the problems.Part four: The practical suggestions of realizing gender equity in textbooks. In order to eliminate the gender bias in the textbooks, the author put forward two suggestions: when textbooks are compiled, examined , approved and selected, the problem of gender bias should be taken into consideration; and gender equity should be regarded as one of the curriculum reform conceptions.
