In the previous research on Chinese textbook, people were used to doing the research on the surface, with the focus on the selection, organization, presentation and assessment of knowledge, but neglecting the study of the hidden ideology and culture, in particular the study of gender role in the textbook.In order to make reader further realize the function of Chinese textbook in educating people and understand the Chinese textbook, the dissertation tries to indicate the presentation character and misconceptions in the gender role in contemporary Chinese textbook for senior high school with the theory of Sociology, Cognitive Psychology, Curriculum and Materials.Combining the text, the dissertation analyzes the character of main gender role in the text and its hidden connotation. Inclusion is as following: the gender of character in this set of Chinese textbook for senior high school is obviously rigid, which presents in three points: firstly, it can't reflect the harmonious and equal relationship in family when male and female character are described together; secondly, ascriptive role is the main role of female character. The textbook mainly describes that female attach much on family and marriage, reflecting little female achievement in other fields, lacking excellent achieving role.There are four chapters in this dissertation. The first chapter is the theoretical basis, mainly introduces about social learning theory, cognitive development theory, humanistic psychology and curriculum theory. In the next two chapters, it analyzes the gender role in the textbook according to the text. In the last chapter, it discusses the influence of gender role in the textbook as well as reasons, and puts forward to some suggestions. The last part is the conclusion.
