For a long time, in moral education we emphasize knowledge instilment,underestimate moral practice, identify moral education with giving lessons andreasoning, parallel moral leaning with knowledge learning, and don't put enoughemphasis on moral practice of middle school students, which result in the fact thatthey don't believe what they know and don't behave as what they say and heavily lackthe ability of moral practice and thus the practical results of moral education are notvery satisfactory. Therefore it's urgent that we analyze the moral problems in seniormiddle school students, research constructive experience, and improve their ability oforal practice.Experts and scholars all over the world in moral education show great concernover the senior middle school students' practical ability in morals, present many newviews, and carry out valuable explorations. Based on the previous research, combinedwith the real senior middle school life and my own teaching experience, the thesistries to find a workable way of improving the ability in moral practice.The thesis mainly expounds the necessity, contents and ways of cultivating thesenior middle school students' ability in moral practice. Now it is the key period ofbuilding a well-off society in anal-round way, so cultivating practical ability is for thedevelopment of the society, for educational development, and for the students'comprehensive growthPractical ability in morals should be cultivated in the following aspects: theability of moral cognition, moral choice, moral fulfillment, moral creation. Amongthem, the ability of moral cognition is the prerequisite of the others, but its purpose isbehavior improvement. The ability of moral choice requires students to make moraljudgement and choice according to their problems, makes them learn to distinguishright from wrong, establish good behavior codes. The ability of moral fulfillment andcreation means to develop their creativeness, tap creative potential, let them establishright moral concepts, and guide students how to behave.To cultivate practical ability in morals, teacher should first change the conceptsof education, establish the new educational concept-----regard the students as the mainbody, emphasize behavior (not cognition ), lay stress on the practical ability from thereal life by reforming teaching and educational activities, and reforming moralevaluation ways, to pay attention to moral behavior. In the word, moral education isan education for personality, life and life quality. It cannot be separated from life andother kinds of education. The senior middle school students' quality is formed in allspace and time, and their practical ability in morals should surely be cultivated in allspace and time.
