With the new course reform, teaching needs to be renewed from all aspects.Classes, the main teaching stage, are also under the same condition. Intraditional Chinese teaching process, teachers always talked through the wholeclasses. With the new teaching belief of improving levels of competence, todaysome teachers cannot extricate themselves completely from the old-fashionedteaching method. If teachers keep on employing such teaching method and adoptingthe out-of-date attitudes towards teaching, the important function of classroomteaching will be hindered to certain degree. This thesis aims to probe into themethods of how to improve the efficiency of classroom teaching.This thesis consists of five chapters:Chapter One: "Gap" and the art of "gap" in Chinese teaching. This chapteris mainly composed by a detailed explanation of the art of "gap";how is "gap"applied in other different creative artistic work;and understanding of thequestion: how to integrate the art of "gap" with the actual Chinese teachingpractice?Chapter Two: The foundation of implementing the art of "gap" in Chineseteaching process. "Gap" gives full play in the production of artistic work.It is an important component of Chinese classroom teaching. The application ofthe art of "gap" in Chinese teaching has its cause and theoretic foundation:teachers' personalities, the present educational conditions and the futureeducational demands.Chapter Three: The beauty-appreciative and psychological basis of applyingthe art of "gap". This chapter mainly concentrates on the psychological basisand the principles of beauty appreciation of applying the art of "gap" inChinese teaching. Such kind of teaching method is mainly based on humanisticteaching theory.Chapter four: The significance of applying the art of "gap" in Chineseteaching. The practice of the art of "gap" in Chinese teaching promotes itsteaching efficiency to large degree. Its practical meaning is illustrated bystudents' major part in such kind of classes. Its significance mainly embodiesin five aspects: to initiate students' interests in learning;to trainstudents' sense of main part;to provide a comfortable and harmonious teachingenvironment;to cultivate students' imagination;and to coordinate teachingrhythm.Chapter five: Methods and strategies of applying the art of "gap" inChinese teaching. To improve the art of Chinese teaching, teachers need to showingenuity, inquire deeply into academic research and base oneself upon reality.This chapter probes into the methods and strategies of improving the art ofteaching from seven aspects: to instruct students to point out "gaps"reasonably in textbooks;to emphasize the understanding of fuzzy language anddip its "gap" in meaning;to arrange teaching steps in proper way and leavesome time as "gap" for students in class;to design "gap" with delicate mind;be skilled in finding "gaps" and make the best use of them in teaching practice;to draw attention to "gaps" in teaching writing and in homework.In summary, under the condition of new course reform,teachers are requiredto change their beliefs, their out-of-date teaching attitudes and analyze thepresent Chinese teaching practice for the purpose of "advancing the developmentof students, and improving students' Chinese attainments". Applying certainartistic skills in Chinese teaching will produce striking and marvelousefficiency in classes.
