The process of mass higher education is not only an expanding period to the scale of higher education, but also a period of enlargement in structure and accumulation in outcomes of higher educational research. Since China's massification in July, 1999, higher educational research developed fast. Guiding by the meta theory and meta-theory of higher education, the study focuses on higher educational research in this period in order to get enlightens.According to the 'a guide to the core journal of China', the author chooses the first ten core journals and begins study on the basis of analyzing on research styles, research methods, key problems and core authors. By analyzing on statistic charts, it is discovered that higher educational research changed a lot during the period of mass higher education. The transformations focus on theory construction of subjects, multi-methods of research and professionalism of researchers. Indeed, for the future development of higher educational research in China, it should be paid great attention to the academic, scientific and systematic of study. The improvement of research quality and the training of specialists should be noticed, too.
