It is considered, in the theory of dual code, that knowledge is stored in language and representation. From ancient times to the present, it is the representation of language that is considered important, while the non-linguistic characterization of language is neglected, which in fact has inestimable effects on students' study. Mathematics is such a course as it is mostly made up of figures. Research in application of non-linguistic characterization in mathematics contributes to students'thinking images and the forming of the mathematics knowledge. This paper, based on some mathematics teachers' experience and the research in the non-linguistic characterization of mathematics, focus on the relationship between representation and non-linguistic characterization of language and emphatically points out the styles of representation and non-linguistic charactetization in mathematics teaching in high school, say, iconography, mathematics model, mathematics experiments, drafting in mind, combination of figure and shapes, and the methods and strategy application of non-linguistic characterization in teaching is stressed.
