During the 20th century, much inadequacy, such as lack, slowness, inferiority and waste, appeared in Chinese teaching, which becomes the target of criticism by many. A common issue confronts Chinese teaching group. That is, how to tackle this problem and seek a proper way out. With this as background, people begin to reevaluate the crux of traditional Chinese teaching and attempt to give a proper prescription. Chinese is our native language. Chinese teaching as a language becomes a sure option.In this essay, in order to explore a whole new procedure of Chinese teaching in the new century, the author analyzes the existing situation of middle school Chinese teaching, combines with his teaching practice, begins with language teaching, acknowledges the value of language teaching and finally comes to the stratum of practice. First, this essay expounds the characteristic and status of language teaching. The author thinks language-teaching plays a leading role in Chinese teaching, and makes clear the value of language learning, so this should help establish the characteristics of Chinese teaching, standard objective, and teaching base. According to this, this essay tries to establish the three-grade goal of language learning, viz, the fundamental goal-storage of language material, the process goal-cultivation of language feeling, and the ultimate goal-cultivation of language communication ability. In the aspect of teaching practice, this essay attempts to establish two basic cyclic models .viz, listening and reading cyclic model and speaking and writing cyclic model. And put forward three practical procedures .viz, accumulation, feeling and realizing, and practice. Finally, the essay makes requirements about handle of teaching material, trend of teaching and quality of teachers accordingly.During the research, the author mainly takes the method of combining the documents research with practice conclusion.
