Analysis Of The Effectiveness Of Distance Education

Recently, the modern distance education in China has made expeditious progress and has expanded rapidly. It is a kind of education mode different from traditional education. A lot of concepts have been developed in practice. Looking back to the process of distance education, it is very worthy to study its characters, cost structure, and what is the result.In this thesis, the distance education was analyzed by the theory of education cost analysis and its characters and system structure. Through investigating the network distance education system of Central South University, the cost structure of the distance education was classified by social cost and individual cost or variable cost and non-variable cost together with demonstration of instance.In this thesis, the validity of distance education was analyzed on the base of distance education target. Through the evaluated data of the nation's provincial radio & TV universities and the investigation data of network education college in Peking University Health Science Center, it is obvious that the validity of distance education management in radio & TV universities has improved a lot, so has the teaching and learning result. The improved validity of teaching and learning process and condition in network distance education has brought a further good result in teaching and learning, and has consequently increased the validity.Research has been showed that the validity of distance education could be increased through optimizing the design of the teaching and learning resources, improving the supporting service system and strengthening the basic equipments and the construction of instructor and other measures to perfect the teaching and learning process and condition of distance education, but heightened the cost simultaneously. It should be emphasized that reform on mechanism and system of distance education through its teaching and learning management reform could greatly increase the validity and lowered the cost. Modern university should operate itself with traditional education and distance education at the same time, and set up service and open distance education management systemso that traditional education and distance education could function and develop mutually and complementarity.
