Stress is a universal characteristic of modern life, which is a problem experienced by people all over the world. This phenomenon results from the globalization of capital and communication, the rapid development of information technology, the model change of economic industry, economic crisis and changes in morality and science. Teacher as a professional role, whether teacher themselves or other social fields, is entrusted special professional connotation. In our country, on one hand, educational reform goes on further and further, the specialization of teachers advanced day after day; on the other hand, the problem of teacher stress become more and more apparent. Many teachers say they are experiencing too much stress: too heavy workload, too much burden in students' entering higher school, too high social expectation. So this thesis focuses on concerning the living conditions of teachers, exploring stressors in teachers and searching for strategies in coping with teacher stress.This thesis includes six chapters. Chapter one first introduces the main theories concerning about teacher stress: the physiological approach, the engineering approach and the psychological approach. Then we defined the connotation of teacher stress.Chapter two describes the present state of teacher stress: First the review of research abroad about the state of teacher stress, then the description of the present state of teacher stress in our country.Chapter three explores stressors of teachers. First we introduces the research abroad about stressors of teachers, such as the relationship between teachers and students, the relationship between teachers, the relationship between teachers and parents, reform, school management, time factors, school environment and so on. Second we analyze stressors of teachers in our country: such as workload of teachers, income of teachers, proportion of students entering higher school, system of appointment of teachers, educational reform, and teacher roles and so on.Chapter four devotes to searching for coping strategies of teacher stress. Firstly, we introduce the connotation and classification of "coping" in psychology; secondly, we introduced some tragedies abroad in coping with teacher stress: set up Stress Management Training Workshop, Rational-Emotive Therapy, and Solution-Focused model and so on.In chapter five, we did field research on a school in Shanghai, by means of narrative inquiry, we research teacher stress in a school when they carry out school management reform, and we pay more attention to the efforts the school managers made in establishing a pleasant and agreeable school environment.In chapter six, we make some suggestions in coping with teacher stress in our country from two aspects, on one hand, teacher themselves should take an positive attitude in coping with stress, find out coping strategies by lived experience of themselves; on the other hand, educational administrative bodies school managers and our society should make allowances for the teachers, pay more attention to the living conditions of teachers, and more important, they.should take measures to coping with teacher stress.
