Sts Education In The Biology Teaching

Education of STS is a new scientific conception that was formed in the recent educational reforms all over the world. It emphasizes the interaction among science, technology, and society. It stresses the trend of value to understand and manage the relationship between science, technology and society; and students' participation together with social, practical and nature of scientific content.Nine parts are involved in this article. First, the article brief analyzes the cause arising from STS education problems. The article limits and generalizes the concept of STS and STS education, it compares and analyses STS education with traditional science education. Second, the paper reviews circumstances of STS education abroad and at home. The thesis also gives a general description of the condition about STS education's using in biological teaching in domestic middle schools. In the third part, the article describes the significance of STS education's using in biology teaching to make numerous biology teachers understand the importance of STS education. In the forth and fifth part, the paper describes the principle and teaching objective of enforcing STS education in biology separately.The sixth part is focal point of the thesis. Basing on the contents of STS education, this pan probes into ways and methods employed in STS biology teaching, together with enforcement principles. I think these teaching methods can be divided into two patterns: one is to draw up special STS teaching materials, and to offer comprehensive courses; the other is to fully uncover elements which help to carry out STS, to renew contents of courses, and to penetrate STS ideas as well. I also think that we can employ the combination of obligatory courses, selective courses, extracurricular activities and social practice to enforce STS education in biology teaching. At the same time, I apply quasi-expenmental method to perform the study of comparative experiment, thus I achieved certain effects. In addition, I earned on exploration and practice on how to adopt effective teaching methods in biology STS education.In the seventh part, I carry out study and practice on teaching methods that employed in STS education. Then, I put forward three kinds of Biology STS teaching models most in use, accompanied living examples. In the last part of the thesis, I advance thought and suggestions in view of the situation appearing in STS education of biology teaching.
