The education of China went though violent transform in the modern society. The transform of curriculum was the core. The curriculum of middle school also went through the transform from ancient curriculum to modern curriculum. This transformation occurred with the development of capitalism the impact of western culture on China society, but it was inevitable result of the development of society and education in China. Through the efforts and exploring of the innovators of landlord class, the learners from the west, reformists and bourgeorsie revolutionaries, The curriculum of middle school in China formed it's modern system with capitalist character. Among the elements that affected the modernization of the curriculum, the demand of the development of the society was the basic one , while the western culture affected it greatly; in the education system, the educational thought (especially the view of curriculum )was the basic one, at the same time, the test institution affected it greatly.By carding the history of modernization of middle school curriculum, we may draw some conclusion: the modernization of middle school curriculum of China was not the course of westernization; it was the response to the politics, economy and culture of the social transformation. It also offered some apocalypse: curriculum reform is not a insular course; we must build up scientific view of curriculum, and we must bring forth new ideas based on the old curriculum. Good curriculum must be adapt the new conjuncture, be useful, be indigenous and be elastic.
