Information society has put forward bran-new requirement of person with ability, new type person with ability should develop all-sidedly, has high ability of innovation and high ability of getting. analyzing and processing information. Traditional far-distance education mode is mostly delegated by TV and planet education, it has many advantages, for example, it has high economic efficiency of teaching versus studying, and it make the most valuable education recourse broadcast and share widely, but it can't accomplish the interaction between the student and the teacher, and it can't meet the individual demands of students whose level are different, it can't adaptive the foster requirement of person with ability of modern society. With the development of information technAlogy and the popularization of Internet, the construction of far-distance adaptive studying system had become possible. Far-distance adaptive studying is the processing Of getting knowledge and getting ability by means of interaction between the students inhere knowledge and the far-distance studying system, in this processing, students can organize. plan and execute studying plan by themselves, and can control the whole studying processing, even they can evaluate themselves. The development of the learning theory has gone through three periods of behaviorism, cognitivisrn and constructivism, behaviorism emphasizes the objective stimulates, cognitivism emphasizes inhere cognitive construction of the subjective, but constructivism emphasizes knowledge construction processing and construction results in the particular environment. The adaptive learning system absorbs the science and rational parts of that three theories, and bases straightly on the cognitive flexibility theory and the semantic net architecture theory, so that it adaptive the modern society's foster requirement of people with ability. The measure that the adaptive learning system provides to the learners includes: the adaptability of the learning diagnosis, the adaptability of the learning content, the adaptability that the learner selects the learning tactical independently. Learning diagnosis is to test the learners by means of testing and exercises which is checked by the measure theory, and evaluate the learner's ability and the master degree of the field knowledge on the base of the learner's responses, it is the important facts that the system dynamic organizes he learning contents. The learning contents dynamic presentation means the adaptiv learning system dynamic organizes and presents the most relevant learning contents to the learner's current learning ability according to the results of he learning diagnosis and the learner's learning history records. The learning tactical means the methods that learner adopts while he is learning the especially learning contents. In the most cases, different learners adopt different learning tactics according to their different learning style, even the same learner can adopt different learning tactics while he learns the same learning content, each learning tactic has its distinguishing feature, they can replenish each other. The most difference between the adaptive learning system and traditional learning system is the realization of the interaction between the learner and the system, the system can present the appropriate content rationally according to the learner's actual level, the learner can select the learning tactics independently.
