Late Qing Dynasty is the embryonic period of the new Chinese textbooks. The study of the new Chinese textbooks has extremely important significance: On the one hand, the textbook is an important educational and cultural phenomenon. The history of textbook is an important part of social politics, culture and education. By this study, we can accumulate resources and retain valuable historical materials. And we can also have a thorough understanding of the social various aspects, such as politics, culture and education. On the other hand, the current academic research for textbooks of late Qing Dynasty is in its infancy, the breadth and depth of research is not enough. So it can enrich the study. At the same time, this study also broaden the research field of textbook. It is an important component of the current research, enriches and improves the theoretical system of textbook study and can also provide a rich and diverse resources for the study of academic textbooks.This article selects five sets of representative Chinese textbooks of late Qing Dynasty period. The full text is composed of the following six sections, respectively is:The first chapter, introduction. This chapter introduces the origin, purpose and meaning, objects and methods. Defines the core keywords "late Qing Dynasty", "elementary school", "Chinese textbook", "children’s literature" and "selection". And introduces the research status of selection and children’s literature.The second chapter, the theoretical basis for the study. This chapter discusses the theoretical basis of this article from the value of the selection and the views on children.The third chapter, the basic situation of selection. This chapter introduces the source and the way of compilation of Chinese textbooks. And we can finds that the materials channel is diverse; select and compile also shows a tendency of diversification.The fourth chapter, research of selection genre. This chapter firstly construct the basic framework of genre analysis. On the basis of this framework, this paper studies the five sets of the textbooks. Through the analysis, we can find that the types of genre is relatively single; uneven distribution and arrangements in line with the age characteristics of children.The fifth chapter, research of selection subject. This chapter firstly construct the basic framework of the subject analysis. On the basis of this framework, this paper studies the five sets of the textbooks. Through the analysis, we can find that the selection emphasize the importance of moral education, pay attention to special education function and neglect of children’s literature aesthetic value. And choreography on the attention to the psychological development of children, close to the daily life of children.The sixth chapter, evaluation of selection. On the basis of the above three chapters study evaluate the children’s literature selection. Aims to provide some effective reference for the current textbook writing.Textbook research is a very rigorous work, need a large amount of data as support. Because the current preserved complete Chinese textbooks in the late Qing Dynasty is limited, so this article research is not necessarily complete. But I hope this study can provide reference for further research.
