Nowadays, the status and roles of constructivism in middle school physics teaching have become more obvious. Research on middle school physics classroom teaching reform is a hot topic worldwide and all countries are trying to find new ways for middle school physics teaching which can not only let students learn the basic knowledge of physics but also promote learning ability and innovation ability of the students. Apply the teaching philosophy raised by this theory to reform the traditional physics teaching can lead to the result of satisfying the basic requirement of quality education in middle school physics teaching. This article is divided into six chapters. Chapter1 summarizes the origin and development of constructivism history, research status and development trend at home and abroad. Chapter 2 discusses the basic theory of constructivism and its points of view; Chapter 3 introduces the teaching strategies and teaching mode using constructivism in middle school physics classroom teaching. Chapter 4 puts forward the principle and method of middle school physics teaching design based on the constructivism theory; Discusses the physical teaching with the new teaching design pattern on concepts teaching and on the teaching of physics laws. Chapter 5 are some examples applied in class teaching. Chapter 6 is a summary and the prospect on future trend.Constructivism theory contains extensive aspects and its basic opinion can be summarized as: emphasis on the view of students-centered and pay more attention to the initiative of exploration, discovery and meaning construction on the knowledge studied. This is consistent with the objectives of cultivate the students’ innovation spirit, practice ability and improving students’ scientific literacy suggested by the new curriculum reform. Therefore, through research on teaching and reform on teaching method, teachers can change their teaching method from the traditional inculcating way to exploratory teaching to arousing the students learning interests, cultivate students thinking ability and improve the students’ ability of autonomous learning. The new curriculum reform will be realized by students’ state of learning changing from “forced study” to “active learning”. Develop the students’ thinking ability is the primary way of realizing “active learning”. Thinking is the indirect, summarized and dynamic reflection of brain on objective things. Physical thinking belongs to a kind of special thinking fallen into general thinking and is the core of the physical intellectual activities. The nature and law of physical thinking can only be found by incorporating general thinking with the feature of physics and then physical thinking training strategy under the guidance of constructivism can be revealed.Practice indicated that constructivism respect for individual differences and the emphasis on students’ active learning idea indicates a direction for middle school physics classroom teaching reform. Constructivism physics classroom teaching requires a reposition of teacher and students in the class. Students become the center of the classroom and the teacher a helper rather than impart knowledge to the students. Constructivism physics classroom put forward new requirements on physics teachers and requires physics teachers to transform from the knowledge deliverer of traditional teaching to situation creator and subsidiary for students’ studying. Constructivism physics classroom also put forward higher requirements on students; constructivism physics classroom teaching requires students to complete transformation from the knowledge receiver to the autonomous learners instead of the role of knowledge receiver in the traditional teaching. In the long run, to apply constructivism in middle school physics teaching practice is an inevitable trend.
