With the global economy becoming more and more important in 21 st century, the teaching of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics(collectively called STEM) also takes up a more important position in economic competition, more and more people pay attention to STEM education. Therefore, how to design a better STEM curriculum is focus on everyone’s attention. However, the research of domestic STEM curriculum is still in its infancy, and the literature with the "STEM curriculum" as the research object is also very few from the point of view of literature and analysis. Educators or related researchers haven’t made a thorough study of STEM curriculum. What’s more, in theory, there is no systematic understanding, and to our country, there is also no unified national standard of it. So, this study goes on with the literature research, case analysis and comparative method. First, through studying of literature, analyzing and researching current situation. Then selecting typical cases of China and the United States is to combing and analysis, and summarizing and concluding basic ideas and features of its design. The study found that Chinese STEM curriculums are lack of unified curriculum standards, the misunderstanding of the STEM concept, unreasonable curriculum structure, incomplete curriculum content as well as the lack of teaching staffs. This paper put forward the need to improve the following aspects: teachers should normalize the STEM curriculum design regulations when constructing the STEM curriculum, improving the teaching environment, increasing the training of STEM teachers and encouraging students to participate in STEM learning. At last, conclude the research of this paper, put forward the deficiencies in the study and followup the prospects.
