School achievement has always attracted close attention. There are many factors that can affect school achievement, e.g. intelligence, personality, education level, etc. Studies have found that mental health is an important factor for students that deeply affects their study and daily life. Regarding the relationship between mental health and school achievement, there exist extensive and deep researches all over the world. They all agree that mental health is an important comprehensive factor which acts on school achievement. However, there is no unified conclusion about any certain level of mental health.This thesis is focusing on the locus of control, to explore the relationship between locus of control and the school achievements of PE students. What’s the possible bias about locus of control for students in Tianjin Institute of Physical Education? Is it in line with the trend that internals can get the higher achievements? Under which condition can it be advantageous to colleague students to get better school achievements? Can exercise change the tendency of locus of control? If the locus of control has a good influence on school achievement, we apply appropriate psychological interventions to increase their achievements and foster more excellent talents.This research takes all students of grade 2 and grade 3 of the third department of Tianjin Physics College as investigation subject, and used the final examination scores offered by teachers. It takes grade point average(GPA) which has been used internationally as a judgment standard, and it devides the scores into three parts: total GPA, sports GPA and academic GPA, to proceed the analysis in different dimensions.This research has achieved the conclusion that most of the students in Tianjin Physical College are internal locus of control oriented. It has confirmed that students who are internal locus of control oriented can get the higher scores. It also has founded that there is significant subject difference about their GPA. Students who are internal locus of control oriented can get higher achievements than those who are external locus of control oriented. However, their academic scores and total scores are not so relative to the locus of control level. Overall the GPA of controlling sports is significantly affected by locus of control.
