Strengthening the curriculum reform is the focus of domestic and foreign basic education, while teaching material as the important carrier of the course contents reflects the characteristics of basic education reform. In this paper, by taking a view on the difficulty of teaching materials, according to the difficulty model of textbook and the difficulty model of exercises, we studied and analyzed the mechanics and electromagnetics in Chinese and Germany high school physics textbooks. To provide references for curriculum reform in China, we investigated and analysised the difficulty differences in Chinese and Germany high school physics textbook.On the one hand, in this paper, writer used the static quantitative difficulty model of curriculum constructed by professor Ningzhong Shi to analyze the difficulty of Chinese and Germany high school physics textbook. On the other hand, we drew lessons from professor Jiansheng Bao building a model of the math exercises difficulty degree, to build a comprehensive difficulty model of physical exercise.First of all, we studied and read Chinese and Germany KPK high school physics textbook, and carded the knowledge points in mechanics and electromagnetics, then combining with the Chinese high school physical curriculum standard and Germany Baden-Wurttemberg state learning standards, we determined the knowledge points’ requirements, and combined with the textbooks in every difficulty factors determine the level of every exercises. At last, based on the static quantitative difficulty model of curriculum and the difficulty model of physical exercise, we calculated all kinds of datas, respectively obtained the scope of the content, the depth of the content, content difficulty and the difficulty of exercises of Chinese and Germany KPK high school physics textbook in mechanics and electromagnetics. Through research, get the following conclusion:(1) In the scope of the teaching material content, in mechanics, Chinese textbooks are less than the KPK high school physics textbook. Their scopes are 111 and 126. The biggest scope difference is in "understand, experience", which our textbook is less than half the KPK textbook, and the others have roughly the same quantity. The scope of Chinese textbook is 46, that is more than KPK textbook 38, in electromagnetics, indicating that knowledge is wider in our textbook.(2) In the depth of the textbooks, in mechanics Chinese textbooks are more than the KPK textbooks, to be 242 and 236 respectively. But our textbook are less than the KPK in scope, most of our knowledge points are even harder. Like mechanics, electromagnetics has the same result, that embodies the high depth textbooks published by people’s Education Press.(3) In content difficulty, in mechanics, Chinese textbooks are less than the KPK textbooks, to be 2.617 and 3.017. Although Chinese teaching materials total depth is higher than the German teaching material, as a result of the KPK tutorial class number is less, a direct result of its is more than comparable breadth and depth, and makes it harder. In electromagnetics, our teaching material is more than Germany textbooks, because its breadth, depth and less course time, comprehensively make it more harder.(4) In the difficulty of exercises, in mechanics, the overall difficulty of teaching material in our country is lower than the KPK teaching materials, while the number of Chinese textbook exercises is more. But its various difficulty levels are relatively low, especially on the analysis factors, knowledge content and physical cognitive factors in three aspects are lower, and in the background and the operation two difficulty factors are the same. In the electromagnetism of both the overall difficulty are the same, only on the background and the operation of two factors difference is bigger.
