Happiness is the theme and fundamental problem of life as well as everyone’s need and pursuit. Without the desire for happiness, there would not have been human beings’past and today and nor would future. With rapid development of society, under the background of building a harmonious society all around and promoting quality education deeply in our country, the happiness of teachers and students is laid more emphasis on, coming into the education researcher’s sight. Therefore, unscrambling the connotation of the happiness of teachers’career and analyzing the current situation of teachers’occupation happiness mean a lot to teachers in order for them to enjoy the occupation dignity and happiness theoretically and practically. In this study, the thesis writer took teachers in L Elementary School in Nangjing as subjects. The writer surveyed 135 teachers on occupational happiness through questionnaires made by the writer herself and interviewed 7 of them. The results are as follows:Firstly, occupational happiness of teachers in L Elementary School takes on an ordinary level. More than half of the teachers feel unhappy or rarely excited; 46.2% of teachers don’t think teaching pupils as an enjoyable job; 84.8% hold the view that they are under great or very great pressure; 80.3% of them feel they are tired or very tired. Obviously, the working life of teachers in L Elementary School in Nangjing is hardly optimistic.Secondly, teachers’occupational happiness has little relevance to their education qualification, job title, their working experience. As is shown in the statistics and figures, there is distinct difference as far as teachers’sex, age, school position and income are concerned. Furthermore, female teachers’occupational happiness situation is better than that of male teachers’. Those aged below 25 and above 50 feel the most relative happiness, with those aged between 41 and 50 in the second place, followed by teachers whose age range from 26 to 30, while those from 31 to 40 in the last place. From the angle of subjects, teachers teaching music, P.E. and arts enjoy a highest level of occupational happiness, followed by teachers teaching maths and English, with Chinese teachers feel the worst, which is worth more attention. Middle-level cadres’ occupational happiness level is distinctly lower than other teachers’. Heads of the teachers of the grade and one subject enjoy a relatively high level of occupational happiness. The teachers whose income is below 40,000 Yuan or ranging from 60,000 to 70.000 Yuan feel more happiness, while teachers with the income between 50,000 and 60,000 taste the least happiness.Thirdly, among all the reasons leading to teachers’occupational happiness, students’affection and gratitude, students’high marks and having a satisfying class play a dominant part. Meanwhile, heavy working pressure, formalistic work which separates from practice and heavy work load constitute the main reasons why teachers feel unhappy. At the end of the paper, after rational thinking, suggestions about how to raise teachers’ occupational happiness are offered from subjective and objective aspects respectively. From the subjective aspect, firstly, teachers should have professional ideals and pursue vocational happiness; secondly, the concept on teaching is converted and the essence of work will be understood; thirdly, teachers should enhance their proficiency and try to experience the vocational happiness; From the objectively aspect, to begin with, a good environment should be created and a reasonable expectation be set up; Then, vocational life should be optimized and evaluation system be reformed; Thirdly, teachers should have glorious visions and search for origin of happiness; Finally, a harmonious atmosphere should be created and welfare benefits be improved...
