This research mainly reports a case study of the professional development process of an expert in-service teacher. The research explores the key events and people that influenced the teacher, as well as analyzing the factors affecting her professional development and giving suggestions on promoting the professional development of in-service teacher based on in-depth description of her professional development experience.This research describes in details of the participant’s life and teaching experience through several cases and interview transcription, aiming to provide a full and real picture of the track record of the participant. The author extracts six important events from her experience:changing profession to kindergarten teacher; catching opportunity, and becoming a group leader; working on her strength, and participating the early childhood music teaching and research workshops; becoming a mother of a baby girl; carrying on the kindergarten’s tradition of teaching and research, and participating the kindergarten’s research work; becoming mentors for student teachers. From the above events, the author draws out the key events influencing her professional development:participating the early childhood music teaching and research workshops; giving birth to a baby girl; being a Outstanding young teachers of some area. Besides, her master supervisor, teacher K and one of expert the of Approach Mathematics,teacher M are the important people during her career development.At the same time, the author explores factors affecting the participant’s professional development in the aspects of her personal traits and working environment. For example, love of children, intelligence, being willing to learn, being good at catching opportunities and not being restricted by her previous profession. These are also the key elements that promoted her profession development. Family and kindergarten are the major environmental factors influencing the participant’s professional development, including emotional support from the family and professional support from the kindergarten.Finally, the author provides suggestions on promoting participant’s professional development based on the present situation:optimizing kindergarten teachers’ understanding of preschool education; setting up a completed and reasonable evaluation system; offering necessary external assistance.
