Analysis On The Influencing Factors Of NBA Team

NBA is growing at an unprecedented influence on the fans around the world, the annual NBA Finals are live hundreds of countries. It has great impact on basketball itself, basketball culture and basketball economic. The great value for the basketball is to focus on performance. Therefore, this paper from four different aspects to analysis factors affecting the outcome of the NBA game. They are home-court advantage, strength of schedule, performance under pressure and game data analysis.First of all, by comparison of the data between home and away teams, we find that home advantage does exist, but the home advantage is slowly declining with the further analysis.Secondly, we point out three main factors affecting the strength of competition: the strength of Eastern and Western Conference, the team own power and the number of back-to-back games played. Then introduce two means for data analysis. They are strength of schedule calculation method and weighted strength of schedule calculation.Again, through the interaction of free throw percentage, home-away factors, audience attendance, players experience and other factors in the "choking"(the last time of game) time, make sure that the athlete’s free throw percentage fall 5-10 percent when the score close in the last few seconds of the game than the usual. So the psychological factors can affect the final outcome of the game in some extent.Finally, make the principal component analysis model and regression model, and compare they two each other. Not only confirms the success of these two models to build, but also can make more accurate predictions based on the model. Ultimately, we believe that the impact of factors outside the game is gradually decreasing, while the subjective factors largely determine the outcome of the game, especially the psychological factors and athletes ability, if we combine these two factors, it may be a corresponding increase competition results.
