| Textbooks are the main basis for teaching and learning. It is important to select some appropriate teaching materials for teachers to achieve teaching objectives and students to acquire knowledge. English textbook is the core curriculum instructional materials, which is compiled according to the classification of the preparation of the national curriculum needs. It includes grammar, vocabulary, as well as listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of language learning activities.This study will take the English textbooks of Shanghai Educational Press and Kang Hsuan edition for further comparison and analysis, thus having a distinct impression of similarities and differences and their own characteristics in system. The aim of analysis in discrepancy and features is to rethink and summarize.On the basis of background research and literature review, the thesis broadly compares and analyze the English curriculum ideas,course objectives,Written requests of textbooks and framework.At the same time,detailed analysis is on chapters, knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and language abilities.The study found that the two sets of textbooks emphasize listening, speaking,reading and writing ability to train, have stressed children’s verbal expression ability. The Oxford English is relatively simpler about the framework parts. "hello, Darbie!" sets up the Review Units to help students acquire knowledge more effectively; the two sets of textbooks both have very extensive and life of the themes about the chapters. However, the input quantity of "Oxford English" is bigger; "Oxford English" is relatively more difficult, but also some more content on linguistic knowledge.The purpose of this study is not to know which edition is better,but try to find out their own laws in textbook-writing and conclude the merits and disadvantages after deep comparison and analysis,thus improving our English textbooks construction by learning from others. Finally, on the basis of analyzingdifferences and concluding features, the study summarizes the experiences of other country to promote and optimize the construction of Chinese primary school English textbooks,thus laying the cornerstone for the later study. |
