In the era of knowledge economy, with the rapid development of information, our education faces with a challenge. In our country, multi-media teaching has gone through a long trial period, and achieved certain results. Multimedia teaching creates a teaching and learning environment through the effective integrating IT into the teaching of various disciplines, to achieve a method of teaching and learning with characteristics of autonomy, exploration and cooperation, which will not only make teachers play a leading role but also fully reflect the students’ dominant position, and finally make students fully play out their initiative, enthusiasm and creativity. Currently, the multimedia courseware occupies an important position in the teaching and learning process, and plays an increasingly prominent role. It has been affecting people’s lifestyle and ideas and integrating slowly into our culture. But the study about courseware in and abroad always remains at the level of technology and teaching applications. So this paper is going to study the cultural connotations of the multimedia courseware from a different angle which is the perspective of culture, to systematically sort out a range of people’s skills and ideas produced about multimedia courseware.Based on the above background, this article focuses on analyzing how to fully reflect cultural characteristics of multimedia courseware during its creating process, and conclude that a complete and systematic reference method of cultural creation of multimedia courseware. Around this research objective, the following aspects have been done in this paper:First, this paper makes an extensive search and summary of the research status of the multimedia courseware in and abroad, and hardly finds any discussion about the cultural significance of multimedia courseware. Therefore, this paper presents the value of the study and attempts to elaborate comprehensively and objectively how to achieve its cultural connotations during the period of multimedia courseware creation from perspectives like the theory of cultural studies, psychology, education, etc.Second, following the induction of the development, type and application status of multimedia courseware, this article is going to make a tentative definition of multimedia courseware culture with reference to the idea of culture, and a detailed discussion of its cultural essence and five sub-culture system, as well as conditions that occurs and direction of development of multimedia courseware culture.Third, as the multimedia courseware culture, a kind of human culture which has its own cultural center of gravity, has its unique cultural components, so this paper analyzes that where its cultural center of gravity are and how it changes in the course of its development. And the paper seriously analyzes the different cultural connotations of the multimedia courseware culture from four different dimensions.Finally, the case analysis that is one of research methods has been used. By determining the purpose of analysis, the requirements of case selection, the objects of analysis and analytical standards, this paper is going to do a comprehensive and in-depth analysis and exposition to excellent multimedia courseware works. The thinking of case analysis is closely linked to the nature of the multimedia courseware culture and its multicultural composition which is illustrated previously, to conclude that how to get the better demonstration of cultural significance of multimedia courseware during its creation.
