Since the new curriculum reform, scholars put forward different opinions on thecultivation of students’ quality and ability of teaching. Facing the increasingly fierceinternational competition, the social from all walks of life is badly in need of qualifiedpersonnel. In November2013, the ministry of education proposed the reform plan forcollege entrance examination, the general trend that need to pay more attention to thecultivation of students’ quality and ability, for the realization of over-alldevelopment of students. High efficiency, high quality subject ability of training isimminent. For geography, it is all-embracing, including ancient and modern, and thereare many aspects need to think, operate, explore in learning it, so, raising the studentgeography ability could promoting the development of students’ comprehensivequality at the same time, this is the place where other subjects can’t compare with.This research mainly based on the theory of pedagogy, psychology andgeography, using literature research, questionnaire survey, deductive induction, etc.,to define the geography ability of high school student, and combined with the case toput forward the corresponding training strategy. This research mainly consists of sixparts:The first part is the overview of the research, mainly introduced the selectedtopic background, the research status at home and abroad, research significance andresearch ideas and methods.The second part is the theoretical basis of this research, mainly through thecharacteristics of geography knowledge, combined with the geography abilityrequirements, to define the concept of geography ability, then discusses the theory ofthis research is based on.The third part is the present situation of the research, mainly using questionnairesurvey and statistical description method, carries on the investigation and descriptionof the status of cultivating the ability of high school students, and analysis of thestatus quo problems.The fourth part is the implementation strategy of the research, it is mainly basedon the concept of geographic ability, combined with the related cases, to put forwardthe training strategy on high school students’ ability in geography from four aspects,respectively, geographical operating ability, geography cognitive ability, geographical application ability and geography innovation ability, the geographical operatingability is aimed at geographical observation ability, geographical survey ability; thegeography cognitive ability is aimed at memory-comprehension ability, knowledgeintegration capability and geographical thinking ability; the geographical applicationability is aimed at image interpretation ability, information processing ability andgeographical predictive ability; the geography innovation ability is aimed atquestion-explore ability and research cooperation ability.The fifth part is the implementation of the recommendations of the research,main idea is, in training process, to make a combination of intelligence factors andnon-intelligence factors, and from the shallower to the deeper, and step by step.The sixth part is the conclusion of this research, and mainly summarizes theresearch results of this study, prospect the research limitations and research prospects.
