American higher education system in the world is very developed, which has severalhundred years of history. No matter in the school structure, curriculum, university governance,etc,it has its unique side. Current situation and the existing problems of private university of USAprofit market operation in this research, as a branch of American emerging for-profit privatehigher education system, for-profit private university of USA has a very important research value,at the same time, it also have implications to the development of Chinese private universities.The present development private higher education in China is facing with the bottleneck period,how to come out of it and continue to develop is an important issue which needs to be solvedurgently in the current Chinese private universities. The main content of this study includes thefollowing parts:The first part, the introduction part. This paper mainly discusses the problems’ put forwadof this article, domsetic and abroad related research situation on this issue, the main researchmethods of this paper and the definition of the main concepts.The second part, discusses the development history American for-profit private university.This process can be roughly divided into five periods: the colonial period--American for-profitprivate university’s forming stage; after the founding of the USA--American for-profit privateuniversity’s growth period; after the Civil War--American for-profit private university’s difficultperiod; before the1970s--American for-profit private university in block stage; after the1970s--new for-profit private university’s rise.The third part, mainly discusses the characteristics of American for-profit private university.There are market-oriented. American for-profit private university according to the marketdemand courses, teaching plan is the work envisaged by the market and customer demand todevelop, teach specific and practical skills and apply in higher education, which greatly satisfythe needs of the society who are not traditional university and seek practical knowledge of theneeds of the people; the pursuit of maximum benefits. In order to maximize the benefits, privateuniversity profit continued to open up overseas markets and the digital market occupation; adulteducation. Private university students with traditional profit source of university students aredifferent, the objective is to facilitate reading and her own ascension to the position or help tofind a better job; to ensure the quality and credibility of American for-profit private university.Private university profit seeking development of the school also attaches great importance to thequality of teaching and social integrityy and to the students(customers) as the center. The problemsare listed below: firstly, the government management of the private colleges problems; secondly,the problem of internal management system of private colleges and universities; thirdly, there isthe problem of property right of private colleges and universities; fourth, enrollment andgraduation issues in private colleges; fifth, problems of teachers development of civilian runcolleges and universities.The sixth part, discusses the inspiration of America for-profit private university’smarket-oriented operation to private universities in China. It’s mainly from the university’scompetition system, the government’s supervision system, the university admission certificationsystem, perfect the relevant laws and regulations and the academic freedom to expand.The senventh part, conclusion.
