With the rapid development of world economic growth and education, continuing education, the role and functions into full play and recognition. At the same time, have long been accustomed to government investment, the state funding continuing education has become increasingly unsuited to the needs of social development fund bottleneck problem has always been one of the key issues plagued the development of continuing education. Along with the decline of the financial capacity of public higher education and the rise of for-profit university, continuing education may learn from for-profit University of the development of road. University of profit-making business philosophy, the way they operate and the structure of relations to explore the development of continuing education from an economic perspective, the fresh material. The United States, for-profit university in the United States largest and features, inherited the essence of traditional universities not only in imparting knowledge to cultivate knowledge, and the operation of the education industry, import, cost control, efficient operation of the concept. This paper selects the operating mechanism of the for-profit university in the United States to conduct in-depth theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, combined with continuing education in China’s actual experience of the creative use of for-profit university in the United States proposed for China’s continuing education development strategy.In this thesis, the main part as follows:The first chapter starts from a different level the concept of for-profit university to define; Second, the elaborate for-profit university in the United States, including for-profit university in the United States history, the background of the development and achievements and the problems.The second chapter focuses on American for-profit University operating mechanism, from decision-making mechanism, information mechanism, incentive mechanism and restraint mechanism of several aspects of for-profit University operating modes and characteristics, highlight the for-profit university operation mechanism in the market mechanism of superiority; and to the United States of America Appollo group success stories as the basis, from different levels of different angles of the empirical analysis, to its operation status, management idea in recent years and the performance analysis, finally, in front of the theoretical study and Empirical Analysis on the basis of discussion, for-profit university operation mechanism in the transition of the economic system in the specific application and achievements.The third chapter on China’s continuing education status quo, continuing education in China to learn from for-profit University of the possibility and feasibility as well as China’s continuing education in the practice of operating mechanism, theoretical analysis, policy analysis and empirical research, on this basis refer to the for-profit university in the United States experience in education, the specific reality of continuing education, dialectical use of the operating mechanism of the for-profit university in the United States, a revelation on China’s continuing education, to build a diversified operating system with Chinese characteristics.In this paper, application of research methods literature analysis, case analysis, empirical analysis, theoretical analysis and comparative analysis.
