The Research And References Of For-profit Universities

After the 1970s, with the diversification of higher education, for-profit higher education appeared in many countries one after another, and achieved good economic and social benefits which promoted the development of higher education strongly.In China, the "Education Law" limits the schools and other educational institutions are "nonprofit", but due to regulations and policies are unclear, some "non-profit" private universities in China always do "profitable activities". The United States is the country that for-profit universities developed best. Using the references of the for-profit universities' operating mechanism and in light of the actual situation of education in China, try to put forward some proposals on the development of the private universities, which is the purpose of this paper.This paper introduces the for-profit university in United States, including the creation, the development, the history, the development of the status quo and the operating efficiency. Then it takes Devry University and the University of Phoenix in the United States as examples for further analysis; on this basis it makes some analysis, including profit and non-profit contradictions, characteristics of such university, and its close linkage with the market, as well as the differences from non-profit institutions of higher education. Moreover, the paper makes an important analysis on the exploitation of the environment of the university. Finally, it analyzes its internal systems, external monitoring system and certification.Through comprehensive understanding of for-profit university and the legal status of our country and the status of the market, it makes the analysis on the possibility of the distinction between for-profit and non-profit universities, then put forward some suggestions on the operation of private universities in China that maybe play a positive role in the development of the private universities.
