As the playwright Carolyn Handler Miller said, story is a kind of ancient humanactivity. Story, an ancient form of art full of vitality, has inlfuenced people generationatfer generation with its particular charm. Oirginating back to the early stage ofeducation,"Word of mouth" is the prototype of educational development. However,"Word of mouth" is also the main pattern of the spreading of traditional story form.Stories are deeply loved by people with its traits of humanity, artistry, and infectivity.The application of "sto"ry in teaching to promote students’ spiritual connotation anddevelopment were once paid attention to by the education sector and there were also alot of teaching researches about this subject. However, with the advent of theinformation age, the "Digital Storytelling" with the era characteristics, whichintegrates the achievements of modern media technology and the traditional "story",has begun to catch people’s eyes.This study aims to analyze the domestic and foreign researches of the "DigitalStorytelling" and introduce the background, concept and characteristics. The "DigitalStorytelli"ng was applied to Information Science and Technology teaching activities toexplore the teaching role, function, and significance of the "Digital Storytelling", Theauthor relfects the teaching process with case studies to propose the correspondingteaching principles and further pertinently provide teaching strategies to improve theatmosphere of information science and technology classes and promoting its effectiveteaching.On this subject, this study mainly has done the following work:Firstly, the author teases out the researches of the "Digital Storytelling" in theifeld of education, based on the literature home and abroad. In order to explore thetheoretical combination of the "Digital Storytelling" and Information Science and Technology teaching, the author proposed that the "Digital Story" be applied in classteaching as the task carrier of project-based learning.Secondly, the author analyzes the elements, general characteristics, and teachingadvantages of the "Digital Storytelling" based on the teasing of the related theory. Andthe study also explores the teaching elements and methods involved in the teachingapplication. The author carries out the instructional design of the "information scienceand technology" based on the "Digital Storytelling".Thirdly, the author implements the instructional design into class of InformationScience and Technology. By means of questionnaires and interview; as well as theassessment rubric, the author acquires relevant qualitative mateirals to reflect theeffects in real teaching, based on which the essay analyzes the existing problems anddeficiencies and propose related teaching principles and strategies.Finally, this paper summairzes the research process and instruction practice,teases out research findings and achievements, and puts forward the problems of thestudy and future trends in this field.
