A Study On The Social Support Of The Spiritual Demand Of The Elderly In Changzhi City, Shanxi Province

This paper is based on the phenomenon of increasingly serious social aging. The main problems of the elderly have direct impact on the development and progress of our society. From the perspective of social work aging population contains considerable social wealth, the elderly spiritual and cultural needs is a bounden social responsibility of the party, the state and the social from all walks of life.Therefore, the paper mainly discusses the situation of social support for spiritual needs of the elderly in urban area, as well as tries to make clear the status of the social service for those people’s spiritual life,having some theoretical significance and practical significance.This paper is written into the following six sections:The first section is an introduction, which mainly explains the research background, the theoretical and practical significance of the subject, literature review, theoretical perspective of the research, research methods and definitions of the basic concept, trying to provide a clear theoretical framework for the subject.The second section is an overview of the situation of social support for spiritual needs of the elderly in urban area. This section, from the perspective of our country, details the social support situation, and raises significant questions regarding the social service for meeting the spiritual needs of the aged in urban areas of the whole country, providing references both theoretically and practically.The third section is an investigation to the spiritual needs status of the elderly in the W community in Changzhi, Shanxi Province. This section not only describes the basic situation of the W community, but also details the current social support situation of the spiritual needs of the aged in this community in five aspects. The research is conducted in the form of questionnaire survey and interview samples. The statistical analysis of the questionnaires shows the spiritual needs status of the elderly in the community clearly, and helps to learn about the development level of the community infrastructure for the aged. While the form of questionnaire fails to quantify some people’s actual feelings, the form of interview performs better in presenting their spiritual needs.The fourth section illustrates the problems of the social support for the spiritual needs of the elderly in the W community and their cause analysis, based on the findings of the questionnaire survey and interview samples presented in the third section, providing references and statistics to the construction and development of the W community.The fifth section gives suggestion to the social support system building, and proposes solutions to the problems in the current social support situation in the W community, which not only is in line with the actual local conditions, but also can be regarded as a theoretical reference to guide practice. This section also specifies the responsibilities and goals of different aspects in the social support system.The six section is a conclusion, which summarizes the research results and highlights two main problems of the social support in the W community.
