| From the end of the last century, society has entered the information era. Moderninformation technology has been widely used in various fields of society. Theincreasing popularity of the information technology has not only brought severechallenges to education, but also offers new opportunities for the development ofeducation reform. WebQuest, originally developed by Bernie Dodge and Tom March,professors in San Diego University in America, is an inquiry-oriented new lessonformat in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from theweb.Teachers can create various programs and tasks to enable students to learn theknowledge and skills in the process of tasks independently and cooperately, and thenpromote students’ innovation ability. Nowadays, growing numbers of teachers haveadopted WebQuest in their classrooms.The main purpose of this study is to carry out the English teaching practice basedon WebQuest in Wujiang Pingwang High School to have a further understanding ofits advantages, strive to solve the existing problems in English teaching and improveEnglish teaching level. Hopefully, this will provide useful reference for promoting theapplication of WebQuest in rural high school English teaching in our country.Different approaches of research used in this study are the literature analysismethod, questionnaire survey method and experiment method. Firstly, throughliterature analysis, the current development of WebQuest both in theory and practicewill be better understood. Then experiments are performed in the selected class.Finally the value of this study will be evaluated by gathering and analyzing the datacollected from questionnaire and individual interview of the experimental class andthe control class.The data from this study show that the English teaching based on WebQuest hasachieved remarkable results in Wujiang Pingwang High School. It can improve thelearning interest of students, promote students’ autonomous learning ability, improveteaching efficiency, and cultivate students’ ability of self-exploration and cooperation. |
