Application Of Scientific Hypothesis In Chemistry Teaching In Senior Middle School

Current chemistry program of the school identifies the course objectives of the knowledge and skills, processes and methods, emotional attitudes and values in three dimensions. Among them, the students’learning of the scientific method is particularly important, especially scientific hypothesis methods in the scientific method. Scientific hypothesis approach is an important form among science development, and has a central role in scientific exploration. Chemistry can’t develop without the scientific hypothesis. For example, oxidation doctrine of Lavoisier, the hypotheses of benzene molecular structure of Kekule, the discovery of the periodic law, Dalton’s atomic theory and so on.The study provides specific teaching cases in high school chemistry class with the application of scientific hypotheses, and the research of teaching’s effect additionally. We draw a conclusion that students understand knowledge more deeply after the application of scientific hypotheses. They not only get to know the science, but also have a deeper understanding about the discovery process of science. In terms of scientific inquiry ability, students learn to identify problems, propose hypotheses, design programs, test the hypothesis, determine the authenticity, and perfect the hypothesis. It’s helpful for students to develop the ability of scientific inquiry and foster the scientific spirit.In terms of learning interest, the designed activities based on scientific hypothesis in classes have enhanced the students’curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Students are willing to learn more about chemistry, and they can treat the known knowledge with a critical eye, thirst for unknown knowledge with mentality of exploration attitude.
