With the rapid development of modern education technology, educational virtualcommunity is more and more favorred by the learners. The development of the educationalvirtual community relies on community members communicating, interacting and sharingresources and finally fulfills the learning goals and requirements of the task. However, in theprocess of communication, community members’ herd behavior which blocks the developmentof the community appears frequently, these behaviors will affect the normal communications ofcommunity members, limit the all-round development and be not conducive to the healthydevelopment of the educational virtual community. Therefore, in the process of communityinteraction, how to encourage community members to actively participate in community? Howto parse the herd behavior of community members, what are the influencing factors? How to dealwith the herd behavior of members, ultimately improve the interactive efficiency of members inthe community, and make educational virtual community can play the largest role on learning.These aspects are the keys to promote the development of community. They are also a valuablesignificance subject in the network education field.This research subject is based on the above issues, which need to be studied. This paperintroduces the phenomenon of herd behavior of social psychology to interaction of members ineducational virtual community, combines with the teaching practice of learning science andtechnology, and uses literature research, questionnaire survey and action research method. In thispaper, the concrete research content is divided into six parts as follows.The first part mainly introduces the topic background, significance, purpose, domestic andforeign research status, research ideas and methods as well as the theoretical basis for research.The second part is the connotation of the herd behavior of the educational virtualcommunity members. First of all, this paper parses the meaning of the virtual community,educational virtual community, conformity and herd behavior. Secondly, in combination with therelevant theory results of herd behavior, this paper parses the connotation of the herd behavior indeep in educational virtual community and classifies the herd behavior. Finally, this paper setsforth the manifestation of herd behavior from two aspects in educational virtual community.The third part is the empirical analysis of the herd behavior of the community members.First of all, this paper makes a theoretical assumption for the influencing factors. Secondly, theauthor distributes questionnaires to the undergraduates, which are in school of informationtechnology and education technology level2011and have been involved in learning science andtechnology educational virtual community. After the analysis of the questionnaire data, theauthor proposes some influencing factors on the herd behavior of members in educational virtual community, namely the community environmental factor, the degree of conformity of members,community groups and community members personal factors.The fourth part puts forward the strategies of the elimination of herd behavior. Incombination with the original influence factors of herd behavior in community members, theauthor puts forward the eliminating strategies of herd behavior in educational virtual community.These strategies are establishing autonomous learning educational virtual communityenvironment, developping the innovative ability, strengthening the interaction in educationalvirtual community members and guiding educational virtual community members and so on.The fifth part analyzes the effects of eliminating strategies of herd behavior for communitymembers on the introduction of learning science and technology educational virtual community.The sixth part mainly includes the conclusions, innovation points, limitations and theresearch prospects.
