Basic educational curriculum reform is being pushed generally and developing smoothly. To cultivate talents who have the spirit of innovation, the practical ability and develop comprehensively has been an important goal for curriculum reform of basic education. Culture for innovative spirit and ability needs innovative teaching philosophy and teaching practice. Inquiry teaching is an effective form of teaching innovation, and an idea new for basic education curriculum reform. In the implementing process of new curriculum, inquiry teaching has become the main forms and methods of ideological and political teaching. Inquiry teaching can cultivate the sense and spirit which can help students to think independently, inquire independently and learn cooperatively. It can improve the quality and ability which can help students to recognize and solve problems, and to enhance the scientific spirit and literacy of students. At the same time, the ideological and political teaching whose characteristics is inquiry has play an important role in the process of promoting professional development of teachers. This paper analysis the theoretical basis and practical significance scientifically for inquiry teaching of the ideological and political course, and analysis the feasibility for inquiry teaching of ideological and political course and process of inquiry teaching through searching recent relevant literatures, using literature method, comparative method, case method, and according to the principles of theory with practice. Hoping through this research can help the smooth implementation for new curriculum of ideological and political course.This paper intended to be five parts. The first part is "general theory outline for inquiry teaching ". This part summarizes the content and features for inquiry teaching systematically. The second part is "the theory basis for inquiry teaching mode ". This section discusses the theory basis for inquiry teaching mode separately from these three aspects, philosophy, education, psychology. The third part is "the necessity and feasibility for inquiry teaching of ideological and political course". This part elaborates the necessity and feasibility for inquiry teaching of ideological and political course from the theory. The fourth part is"practice using for inquiry teaching of ideological and political course". This section mainly elaborates the basic mode and implemental strategies of inquiry teaching. The fifth part is "the teachers and students of inquiry teaching for ideological and political course". It discusses the status and role of teachers and students of inquiry teaching for the ideological and political course from the aspect of teachers and students, in order to answer the question about the relationship between teachers and students in inquiry teaching.
