As chemistry is a natural science based on experiment, its experimental teaching is one of the most important contents in chemistry teaching. In order to understand the current situation, problems and solutions of these problems after the reformation of the new curriculum of chemical experimental teaching for senior high school in Changsha City, in this project the questionnaire survey on the current situation and the existing problems is at first accomplished, then the enlighten-inquiry teaching mode, which can satisfy the basic requirements for inquiry teaching and take into account the influence of traditional teaching, is then proposed under the guidance of constructivism and the problem theory. Further the validity of this teaching mode is investigated.The process is as follows:(1) The investigation and analysis on the current situation of chemical experimental teaching in Changsha City. In this section,"the questionnaire on the chemical experimental teaching" for students of high school is designed meticulously to understand the current state and problems of chemical experimental teaching using investigation and observation methods.(2) Constructing the enlighten-inquiry teaching mode. To direct at those problems find out from the questionnaire, the enlighten-inquiry teaching mode is constructed according to the solutions of these problems and the educational theories. Then the three aspects, i.e., target designing, content designing and teaching mode designing, are combined to construct the instructional design for the chemical experiment teaching of high school with the enlighten-inquiry teaching mode to enhance students’operational ability and strain capacity, overcome the stereotype, improve the interests in experimental inquiry and creating.(3) Investigating to the practice effect of the enlighten-inquiry teaching mode. A comparative study is carried out on two classes of grade one in the high school attached to Hunan Normal University. Students from two classes were in a same level. Then T exam and the correct percentage are analyzed by SPSS17.0statistical software.The results from questionnaire show that local students of Changsha possess more interest on experimental operation, but lacked inquiry ability, and the experimental design ability, which needed to be improved continually. The comparative study on two teaching modes shows that the score of experimental class is significantly higher than the reference class after accepting the enlighten-inquiry teaching, and there are significant differences. Students from experimental class made more progress on the interests in experimental inquiry and creating, and their inquiry ability advanced observably, which indicates that the Enlighten-Inquiry Teaching Mode can fully mobilize the enthusiasm, stimulate the interests in studying and improve the abilities of inquiry for middle school students.
