As one of the top ten magazines in Commercial Press magazine,"THE LADIES' JOURNAL" were forced to suspend publication because of the Japanese artillery fire from January 1915(in four years in January) to December 1931(two decades at the end of the Republic of China),which lasted 17 years,1 month,a total of 17 volumes were published.During the 17 years of the "THE LADIES' JOURNAL",Chinese society is undergoing drastic changes in the ideological and historical period. "THE LADIES' JOURNALs" published with the New Culture Movement as a whole has always been.As the era of the staggering period,the 17 years of the "THE LADIES' JOURNAL" in the entire history of the journal had three distinct phases:conservatism -radical- conservatism each time, the changes had a direct bearing on the change of the editor-in-chief.This article committed to study the circulation of the Republic of China and far-reaching influence of women's periodical from medium history's angle.And analyzing the choice and thinking of the editors which under the leadership of Zhang Xichen;digging the important worth of the chariest history material about broadcast research and society status.;acknowledging the successful experience about how to manage a women's magazine and culture design.During the time that Zhang Xichen was the editor-in-chief of the "THE LADIES' JOURNAL" from 1921 to 1925,the New Culture Movement was launching grandly in China.The ancient moral faced to the unprecedented criticism and impact,the new moral values began to promote.In order to disseminate the new knowledge and enlighten the people,all kinds of new ideas had spread to everywhere by the newspapers and magazines.In order to match the tide of the times,the original old-fashioned "THE LADIES' JOURNAL" began to reform thoroughly,its distinct sign is that Zhang Xichen became the editor-in-chief of the "THE LADLES' JOURNAL,"from that time,the contents,the mode of the transmission,the spirit of the pursuit of magazine had distinctive new style of the may 4th movement.During that period Zhang Xichen used his own connection network to seek a large number of the famous intellectuals to join in the new "THE LADIES' JOURNAL "and they became the writers of the magazine,then they produced a series of presentations and articles advocating the emancipation of women.They used the special forms of the issue and discussions focused on the woman's divorce,fertility,love marital problems,occupational problems,open the issue of social,sexual problems,a comprehensive advocacy of women's access to social status, dignity and individuality of the awakening of the realization of liberation,making the "THE LADIES' JOURNAL" to be a main battle field in the period of the may 4th movement,where people can discuss the problems of women.It was said that during the period of the Zhang Xichen as the editor-in-chief,the Chinese women's issues reflected in the "THE LADIES' JOURNAL" had reached an unprecedented height, its dissemination and advocacy of women's minds played a certain role in opening the people's thoughts of the enlightenment.At the same time,the criticism and debate of the pedicle of the deep-rooted feudal old solid moral also reflected the reform era of the cultural choices of courage and vigor,its historical context of the editorial changes in the ideological characteristics of the spirit and worthy of in-depth research,and the enlightenment thinking of the arduous nature reflected in the media were worthy to reflect.The successful experience in "THE LADIES' JOURNAL" of the Zhang Xichen as the editor-in-chief gives us now realistic instruction significance about how to manage women's publication and culture transmitting content design.
